Sui Overflow 2025, a premier global hackathon, invites teams and individuals to register for an eight-week event focusing on innovative blockchain projects.
The Sui Foundation has announced the opening of registration for Sui Overflow 2025, its annual global hackathon, offering an exciting opportunity for teams and individuals worldwide to showcase their innovative ideas. The hackathon will run for eight weeks, from April 1 to May 25, with winners announced at the end of May, according to Sui Foundation.
Overview of Sui Overflow 2025
This year’s Sui Overflow hackathon promises to be more competitive with completely new tracks that reflect the rapid development on the Sui blockchain. Participants will compete in eight different tracks, with top projects winning prizes ranging from $30,000 to $7,500. The event also includes community voting and recognition of outstanding university teams.
Hackathon Tracks
The hackathon features diverse tracks including DeFi, Infrastructure and Tooling, AI, Cryptography, Degen, Payments, Entertainment and Culture, and Explorations. Participants are encouraged to leverage Sui’s unique technology to create innovative solutions across these areas.
- DeFi: Innovate with next-generation DeFi protocols using Sui’s technology.
- Infrastructure and Tooling: Develop tools to empower Sui builders.
- AI: Explore AI integration with Sui and Walrus.
- Cryptography: Create secure applications with Sui’s cryptographic features.
- Degen: Engage the community with meme-related projects.
- Payments: Develop fundamental payment systems for the decentralized web.
- Entertainment and Culture: Build consumer applications in gaming, NFTs, and media.
- Explorations: Innovate with multi-chain or emergent use cases.
Timeline and Registration
Registration is currently open, allowing teams and individuals to submit their profiles. Projects can be entered with GitHub code dated no earlier than February 5. The hackathon includes both in-person and online sessions leading up to the competition period from April to mid-May. Shortlisted teams will participate in demonstration days from May 23 to 24, with winners announced on May 31.
Engagement and Opportunities
Participants in Sui Overflow 2025 will gain exposure to Web3 professionals and receive expert guidance. The hackathon also encourages the use of Walrus’s decentralized storage to enhance project capabilities. Numerous sponsors, including Pyth Network and Wormhole, are supporting the event, highlighting their commitment to fostering innovation in the blockchain community.
